Аннотация: The limitations of the existing system of keeping track of operating time of transport and technological machines by running hours and mileage are considered. The results of testing vehicles with the use of special instruments that allow logging and storing data on the speed rate and load mode of engine and vehicle operation are presented. It has been found that the speed rate and load mode of operation of an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles under in different operating conditions form in diverse ways, which is reflected in the implemented power and the amount of mechanical work performed by the engine. It has been suggested to assess the operation time of the vehicle by amount of mechanical work in joules, performed by ICE, that would allow to optimize the maintenance schedule and improve the availability of the machinery and mechanisms under the harsh conditions of Arctic and Siberia. © 2021 The Authors.
