Аннотация: The article is devoted to the phenomenon of modern interpretation of religious and cultural traditions by the Siberian youth,Orthodox in particular. The method used was a solid classroom survey over the last five years. The vast majority of students define their nationality as «Russian» directlyconnecting it with the Orthodox religious identity.At that the term «Orthodox» with the younger generation does not mean knowledge of the basics of the Orthodox faith and culture, performance of religious actions, observance of moral precepts. This notion is used as a designation of belonging to the Russian tradition, which involves Orthodoxy foundation. The «Siberian» regional identity in the answers of the questionnaire is weakly expressed.A study carried out in Krasnoyarsk is supported by similar findings from the other regions of Siberia. The authors draw a conclusion about superficial mastering of traditional religious, moral and artistic foundations of the Orthodox culture, along with a combination of national and religious identities in the situation of axiological variability.
