Аннотация: Based on variational principles, a new concept of the capacitance of a surface to a point, which has a clear physical meaning, is introduced. It is demonstrated that this concept can be used to derive the variational inequalities for the capacitance coefficients of a system of conductors. Examples of calculations of the capacitance of a surface to a point and the variational inequalities are given. ©2001 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
