Аннотация: The paper assesses the effectiveness of the plastic lubricants use with the addition of ultrafine copper powder to increase the service life of sliding bearings operating in the swinging motion mode. When moving, when the friction force constantly changes the direction of action, the processes of the surfaces wear occur more intensively. Under the operating conditions of such a bearing assembly, the most effective method of increasing service life is the use of modified lubricants with improved anti-wear and anti-friction properties. Tribological studies have established that the introduction of ultrafine copper powder into the composition of basic industrial lubricants significantly improves performance. The use of modified lubricants resulted in a reduction of friction in the bearing assembly to 70% and a decrease in the operating temperature of the assembly to 25%. The studies carried out confirm the theoretical propositions about the positive effect of copper-containing additives on the improvement of anti-wear and anti-friction properties of grease lubricants. The presence of a lubricant that can significantly reduce friction forces reduces the amount of internal stresses and retards the development of fatigue cracks in areas of direction change. The processes of fatigue failure of the surface layers are inhibited by reducing the magnitude of shear stresses at the contact area. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
