A review of the use of ion exchange for molybdenum recovery in Russia

Аннотация: Various hydrometallurgical processes for the production of ammonium salts of molybdenum from molybdenite concentrates and industrial reject products have been reviewed. Ion exchange processes using acrylic anion exchangers aminated with ethylenediamine or diethylenetriamine are the most effective for the selective recovery of molybdenum from industrial solutions firstly, since they result in similar to 100% Mo recovery from all these solutions and secondly, the end product here is ammonium molybdate. The maximal loading of such anion exchangers with molybdenum polyanions occurs at pH=2-3.
