Аннотация: The article describes features of marble mining under sever climate conditions; the research proves the decrease in the yield of marble blocks, which is the argumentation in favor of transition to seasonal quarrying. Aimed at sustainable production of marble blocks and at full-time occupation of personnel, a hybrid mining method is proposed for marble deposit and designs of interdependent and independent work zones are considered. In the technical-and-economic assessment of the designs, the independent work zone ensures higher production of the hybrid mining method. The rational sequence of mining is determined. Underground cutting of marble involves benches to 6 m high, divided into subbenches 1.5 or 2 m high, and uses diamond wire saws and bar cutters. For sustainable transportation of marble blocks from faces to surface storage, it is suggested to make a re-load site above temporarily idle marble reserves. The re-load site surface has elevation equal to the elevation of adit mouths-cutting of marble on the site in order to eliminate loss of marble as mining transfers to deeper levels is described. The re-load site and declines enable independent access to marble in quarry and in underground mine, and allow designing process flow diagrams for opening up of the mine field. To prove feasibility of the proposed process, the authors have modeled opening-up system for Doverie mine, with underground openings giving access to a few levels. The model takes into account the preset production output, equipment and organization of work, which is an additional confirmation of feasibility of independent quarrying and underground mining with the proposed scenario of getting access to mineral. It is emphasized that this opening-up flowsheet is practicable at different or identical rate of increase in depth of mining in quarry and in underground mine. This flowsheet imposes no constraints on production capacity of underground mine due to seasonal operation of quarry and enables full-time occupation of personnel and equipment.
