Аннотация: The need for social and labor adaptation and the need to identify existing problems of people with disabilities in order to improve their social situation have become more vital in today's environment. Adapting a disabled person to a living environment requires a significant increase in the cost of their psychological resources, which are sometimes insufficient for development. The experimental survey was carried out to determine characteristics of the coping behavior and social and psychological adaptation in people with disabilities. This made it possible to prove acceptability of forming the coping behavior and, as a consequence, to improve the level of adaptive capacity in disabled persons through their participation in the Behavioral coping strategies forming program and enhancing of their adaptive abilities. The authors propose a program aimed at creating the conditions for developing behavioral coping strategies and improving the adaptive capacities of people with disabilities. The program can accomplish the following tasks: to teach effective ways of communication and constructive interpersonal interaction; to develop the abilities to make informed decisions and take informed actions; to promote the desire to enter into a social contact in solving problems; to form behavioral coping strategies in people with disabilities.
