Аннотация: A remarkable parallelism between the theory of integrable systems of first-order quasilinear PDEs and some old results in the differential geometry of orthogonal curvilinear coordinates, conjugate nets, Laplace equations and their Bianchi-Backlund transformations is exposed. The applications of these results range from models in topological field theories to the celebrated Bieberbach Conjecture in the theory of conformal univalent mappings.
