Аннотация: The article identifies the main consumer characteristics of housing - safety, reliability, economic availability and comfort. The definition of each characteristic of housing is given using educational, scientific literature and the regulatory and legislative framework of the Russian Federation. The aspects of regulation of consumer characteristics of housing are considered. The existing methods for differentiating residential real estate objects by the degree of comfort are identified. A brief description of each method is given. The opinion of the population about the comfort classes of residential real estate using the method of questioning was investigated. Based on the results of the study, a conclusion was drawn on the current state of consumer characteristics of housing, as well as on the low awareness of the population about the comfort classes of residential real estate. The study is informational and recommendatory in nature and is aimed at raising the importance of providing comfortable accommodation for the population.
