Аннотация: Coherent population trapping has been observed to reduce the absorption of the fundamental waves while still getting a resonantly enhanced nonlinear effect. This phenomenon was used to enhance the efficiency of the nonlinear generation by resonant frequency mixing. Using a density-matrix method, a nonperturbative theory of the resonant sum-frequency generation in a steady state was developed. It was shown that coherent population trapping can be utilized to increase considerably the conversion efficiency in the case of exactly on-resonant three-wave mixing in isotropic media.
