Аннотация: The article covers the problems of socialization of the convicts in Siberia by the example of Yenisey province in the XIX century. The article has been based on the materials of Krasnoyarsk regional archival agency, specifically, on the volost documents. The local materials have been helpful in understanding the peculiarities of convicts' life. At the same time, the facts, mentioned in the article, are the particular cases of the common processes in Siberia. The relations between the Siberians and the convicts have been heavily emphasized in the article. It has been ascertained that the attitude of native inhabitants toward to the convicts was ambivalent. From the one hand, the native inhabitants aimed to do what they can to help to the convicts. From the other hand, the native inhabitants demonstrated deep distrust of the convicts. The distrust reasons have been shown in the article and they are the follows: disposition of the convicts towards thefts, fraud, vagrancy, not readiness for returning well for good. Nevertheless, there are evidences in the archival funds sustaining some convicts became respectable members of society. The article contains the examples of conflicting situations between pleasant old residents and the convicts. The authors have considered the mechanism of communal control towards to the convicts, as well as the types of value judgments of the pleasant concerning to the convicts. The authors have come to the conclusion that the social relations between the native inhabitants and the convicts contributed to the successful adaptation of the convicts to the considerable extend.
