Unambiguous surface vessels positioning by means of the phase radionavigation system signals

Аннотация: This paper describes a UHF-radionavigation system, which allows unambiguous surface vessels positioning over the entire working area due to the phase measurement ambiguity resolution based on the use of relative bearing measurements. The radionavigation system "Krabic-BM" was used as a prototype in which it was necessary to specify the a priori approximate coordinates of the onboard station for the ambiguity resolution of phase measurements. In the presented system, the problem is resolved so that a task of unambiguous positioning is divided into two parts. At the first stage, a relative bearing is found with the use of the direction-finding method, which allows determining rough coordinates of a vessel. At the second stage, object positioning is calculated to cm-level accuracy, with the use of phase measurements in a few metric frequencies. Object positioning errors are estimated by means of statistical simulation, which proves that this system can be used for the high-precision navigation of surface vessels.
