Аннотация: The hypothesis about the connection of awareness and initiative in the communication of a premarital couple with satisfaction the relationship of partners is substantiated and empirically verified. Initiative and awareness in direct communication were assessed by organizing experimental communication of 20 unmarried heterosexual couples aged 24-36 years using the “Free contact on paper” technique in non-verbal form and subsequent free discussion of this practice by the couple, and then criterion-based observation on video recordings. Participants determined their own satisfaction with the relationship in a pair by subjectively scaling in accordance with technique developed by us. According to Spearman's criterion, the relationship between relationship satisfaction and individual and total indicators of awareness in communication ( p ≤ 0.01) and total indicators of initiative ( p ≤ 0.05) were statistically significant. In addition, significant feedback was found with the difference in individual indicators of initiative and awareness of partners ( p ≤ 0.05). The relationship between initiative and awareness of the couple's participant in communication was not found
