Laser-induced photochromic reactions of metallic colloidal silver

Аннотация: Silver chemical compounds are considered as the most widespread photochromic material used. However, metallic colloidal silver, which has the ability to change color, was never considered as photorecording material. The photochromic reactions in metallic colloidal silver were examined. Two types of processes resulting in change of absorption of the medium under laser radiation were observed. First is the photomodification (PM) of fractal clusters (FCs), and second is the photoaggregation (PA) of FCs. It has been shown that PM process occurs if the irradiation wavelength falls inside any range of the spectrum wing of the aggregated colloid.
