Аннотация: The article deals with the research into scientific grounds for launching xenophobia prevention programmes for adolescents. It has been proved that among the risk factors leading to xenophobia, one of major factors is “intolerant” self-attitude which induces interpersonal intolerance and xenophobia due to its close genetic correlation with the attitude to the others. In contrast to interpersonal xenophobia, interpersonal tolerance is regarded as the basis for all its specific kinds (inter-age, inter-gender, interethnic, etc.). Valid correlation between xenophobia, tolerance and self-attitude in adolescence has been ascertained for a sample of 120 adolescents learning in mono- and multinational schools. It has been stated that the main effort by adults and the system of education must be made in development of such psychological resources of an adolescent as positive self-attitude, the ability to enter into a dialogue with the other, conflict and emotional competence, tolerance to uncertainty, formation of values corresponding to active pro-social position in the modern society.
