Pedagogical analysis of physical fitness of siberian university students: Status and prospects

Аннотация: Objective of the study was to determine the level of physical fitness of modern university students of the Siberian region based on the results of the pedagogical analysis. Methods and structure of the study. The study was carried out from 2006 through 2018. We analyzed the results of the 2000 m (girls) and 3000 m (boys) races, rated the overall physical fitness level, functionality of the cardiovascular and respiratory system, locomotor system, and volitional qualities of the university students. A total of 5465 female and 5932 male students of the Krasnoyarsk universities participated in the pedagogical experiment. Results and conclusions. The analysis of the results of the 2000 m and 3000 m race in the 1st-and 3rd-year students of the Siberian regions from 2006 to 2018 showed the following: • In 13 years, the students' level of physical fitness slightly changed, and there was a downward trend in the endurance running efficiency; • The students were found to have a decrease in the functionality of the cardiovascular, respiratory, and locomotor systems; they were unable to withstand the long-term functional and locomotor loads, even within the average intensity range of 140-160 bpm. The findings indicated the need to update the university physical education program content, develop new pedagogical approaches and organizational forms of involvement of student youth in physical education and sports activities, and improve the physical fitness rates. © 2020, Teoriya i praktika fizicheskoy kul'tury i sporta.
