Social Activities of the Merchants Guild the Yenisei Province in the second half of XIX - early XX centuries

Аннотация: The article by modernization theory explores social activities guild merchants Yenisei province in the second half of XIX - early XX centuries. On archival material identified motifs identified characteristics, analyzed the specifics of the merchants participating in the activities of the municipal government, welfare and charity, conducted by the comparison of the phenomena studied in the Yenisei province to other regions of the Russian Empire, which allowed to identify common and specific features of the phenomenon under study. Based on the analysis of the genesis and evolution of the social activities of the merchants guild Yenisei province during the post-reform period, the authors concluded that at the beginning of the period studied social activities merchants wore traditional (forced, corporate, sporadic, primitive pragmatic, religious) character. However, starting from 1880-1890-ies. There has been a civil law part of the activation of the Yenisei merchants, as a result of their social activities acquired modernization features: competitive spirit, systematic, individualism, creativity, competitiveness, balanced rationality, understanding the public interest as a factor in strengthening their own positions.
