Efficiency estimation of complex processing of raw materials (on the example of processing of nepheline ore with addition of bauxites)

Аннотация: The actual problem of Russian aluminum industry is supporting by own raw materials. Almost 98% of world alumina is made of high quality bauxite and only 2% is made by complex processing of nepheline. The largest company in Russia for processing of nepheline is "Rusal Achinsk" in Krasnoyarsk region, it produce about 1 million tones alumina in year. The main feature of this company is a complex processing of nepheline, which allows producing several products from one raw material: alumina, soda ash, potassium sulfate, potash and cement. Such approach makes it possible to process ores with lower content of alumina. Now "Rusal Achinsk" has faced with deteriorating quality and depletion of their nepheline ores. It decreasing the product yield per one ton of the charge when the cost of sintering is permanent. There is a discussion in a literature about ways of solving this technological problem. It's reviewing acid methods and the technology of joint sintering the nepheline ores. We offer the business value model of a complex production to evaluate the technological efficiency of different production variants. Our investigation has showed some hidden problems of alternative production variants on "Rusal Achinsk". Also we've reviewed some key factors of developing the existing technology.
